Dr Daniel Anlezark-
Dr Anlezark’s monograph examines the literary reception of the biblical Flood in a range of Anglo-Saxon texts, from Bede's commentaries to the Old English epic poem Beowulf. He is currently editing a group of highly idiosyncratic Old English dialogues found in MS Corpus Christ College 422, involving King Solomon and the pagan God Saturn, which will have an extensive introduction discussing the place of the text in medieval dialogue tradition, and its relationships with Anglo-Saxon homilies and other poetry.

Dr Mark Byron-
Dr Byron's research interests focus upon difficult modernist texts - often with unruly manuscript archives - and the methods required to produce comprehensive and coherent scholarly editions of such texts. In July 2006 he began an ARC Discovery Postdoctoral Fellowship: His project aims to develop a suitable electronic editorial apparatus and corresponding methodology to account for Samuel Beckett's 1953 novel Watt and its 980-page manuscript, and to produce a full electronic edition.

Dr Gleeson-White is interested in the connections between imaginative representations of the American West and the South, with a particular focus on frontier narratives. She is currently working on William Faulkner’s literary writings about the West as well as his Hollywood Westerns, as part of a larger book-length project on Southern frontier narratives, from the 1830s to the present.

Dr Rebecca Johinke has broad-ranging interests but two main areas of teaching and research: the rhetorical context of writing and contemporary Australian Studies. Recent research projects related to representations of gender in Australian literature and film have included studies of father figures in the novels of Janette Turner Hospital, representations of masculinities in Peter Carey’s fiction, and representations (especially visual ones) of masculinities and car and street culture.

Dr Penny Van Toorn-
Dr van Toorn's recent book, Writing Never Arrives Naked: Early Aboriginal Cultures of Writing in Australia (2006) traces the beginnings of Aboriginal writing back to the early colonial era, and investigates the different cultural and institutional settings in which Aboriginal people produced and deployed written texts. Her current project – "Autobiography of a People" – examines early Aboriginal life-writing in the form of written correspondence between Aboriginal people in Queensland and their official government "Protectors" from the 1890s to the 1930s.

Dr Lawrence Warner is a specialist in Middle English literature, especially Piers Plowman, and has published articles on topics ranging from Dante's "erotics of crusading" to Geoffrey of Monmouth's 12th-century Latin history of King Arthur. He is co-editor of The Yearbook of Langland Studies (the only journal devoted exclusively to Middle English that does not have "Chaucer" in its title) and Vice-President of the Bibliographical Society of Australia and New Zealand.
