Synopsis

It has been shown that sleep loss markedly decreases cognitive and executive functioning, alters glucose metabolism (decreased glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity), modulates the neuroendocrine regulation of appetite (increased hunger and appetite, which may lead to overeating and weight gain), and activates the inflammatory processes (increased C-reactive protein and proinflammatory cytokines).

It is clear that sleep has a very important physiological and cognitive purpose. Thus we explore ways (exercise or dietary approach) that may improve sleep health in athletes and in individuals with sleep complaints.
