Capacity Building with the Pasteur Institute in Vietnam

RIAP collaborated with Professor Peter McMinn, Bosch Chair of Infectious Diseases, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Sydney, to design a capacity building package for the Pasteur Institute in Vietnam.

The Institute is Vietnam’s leading public health surveillance laboratory and is responsible for the timely identification and swift response to infectious diseases, including emerging diseases such as Avian Influenza. RIAP identified appropriate funding opportunities for the Pasteur Institute, and RIAP staff worked with Professor McMinn and the Institute to write and submit the grants, including preparing the narrative and financial proposals. Two grants were successful: one valued at $250,000 through AusAID Public Sector Linkages Program (PSLP) and another, valued at $30,000, through AusAID’s Australian Leadership Awards Fellowships (ALAF). RIAP staff are now working with Professor McMinn on a further grant application to extend the program.
