As Australia's first and most prestigious higher education institution, the University of Sydney conducts high quality research both in Australia and internationally.

Its reputation as a centre for research excellence is demonstrated by the University receiving more funding in new Australian Research Council grants than any other university for the fifth year running. The University received $37.4 million in new and ongoing grants - a 12.1 per cent slice of the cake.

RIAP plays a key role in supporting the University's research initiatives. Applied research and strategic policy advice is one of RIAP's core business activities.
