Executive Training Programs

Overview

The Research Institute for Asia and the Pacific (RIAP) is the lead international projects agency of the University of Sydney. Established in 1987, our major consultancy activities are research, training and strategic policy advice. Our clients include foreign governments, domestic and multinational private enterprises, bilateral aid agencies such as AusAID, and multilateral trade forums and development bodies such as APEC, World Bank, Asian Development Bank and UN agencies.

Core Expertise

The development and delivery of customised capacity building training programs for developing Asian economies is one of RIAP’s core business activities. Programs conducted by RIAP are mainly targeted at middle to senior level government officers, business managers and community group leaders responsible for socio-economic development in various capacities. Structured generally as short-term executive type courses with innovative teaching methodologies, these programs focus on strengthening participants' management and productivity levels in their given field of professional responsibilities.

Strategic Approach

RIAP adopts a practical and strategic approach to implementing courses that are designed to respond to current policy initiatives and country developmental plans. Courses developed by RIAP seek to:

  • deliver modules that help participants improve their understanding of the theories, principles and issues underpinning the area of study
  • workshop the use of various tools and demonstrate the technical skills required in developing efficient management capability
  • introduce participants to case studies, strategies and policy instruments that have successfully institutionalised organisational development and change
