Acquittal 2006 updates

It’s time to rock n’ roll! 2006 ARC Acquittal is coming!

In order to improve efficiency & uniformity of the acquittal process, the Research Office has prepared three files that will assist you to prepare your accounts for the 2006 Acquittal, which is scheduled to commence in Jan/Feb 2007.

Files are:
1) Year End Check List
2) Pro forma form
3) Salary Supplementation Template

1) Year End Check List – contains tasks that should be paid attention to PRIOR to year end, categorised by type of grant. By following these guidelines, the acquittal process will be easier than ever!

2) Pro forma statement – a form to be sent to external institutions (for shared grants only when USYD is the leading institution). The statement should be returned to you no later than 31 January 2007 as you will need the external institution’s statement in order to complete your acquittal. Therefore, it’s time to investigate to whom the statement should be forwarded. Contact the CI if you need further information.

3) Salary Supplementation Template – simplifies the calculations. This template calculates & reconciles the required & actual supplementation for the duration of the grant (earlier than 31/12/06 or date of relinquish). More importantly, it provides a uniform & consistent calculating method across the university, which will improve accountability.

It is wise to start this preliminary process NOW and it should be completed by Year end close off so the ledger is neat & tidy. Otherwise, as was learned by last year experience, double effort will be needed in Jan/Feb 2007 and the result will only be half as good.
