Following are some of the main scholarships that are specific to certain Faculties or areas of study. It is not a comprehensive list as some scholarships are administered through Faculties/Departments. Please contact them for information regarding additional scholarship opportunities.

Approximately four postgraduate research scholarships are available on a highly competitive basis through the Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources. These scholarships are awarded on academic merit to graduates with a Research Masters degree or First Class Honours Bachelors degrees (or in special circumstances Second Class Honours, Division 1) or equivalent qualifications.
Application for the scholarships is automatic upon application for a APA/UPA through The University of Sydney Research Office. Applicants who do not expect to satisfy the APA/UPA eligibility criteria should (a) complete the APA/UPA form and submit it directly to Ms Pam Brass, Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, University of Sydney, NSW 2006, noting that they are NOT applying for an APA/UPA and (b) request the referees to submit their reports directly to the Faculty by 31 October 2008.

David Noel Murray Postgraduate Scholarship: One scholarship valued at approx $15,000 p.a. is available to a graduate of the Bachelor of Architecture at The University of Sydney who intend to commence a Masters or Doctor of Philosophy.

The Faculty of Economics and Business is offering up to five (5) research scholarships to full-time candidates enrolling in the Faculty's PhD program in 2009. Scholarships are valued up to $25,000 per annum and are available for a period of up to 3 years. Those who do not apply for a APA/UPA may download a separate application form and information package from the above website and applications close 31 October 2008. The Faculty of Medicine is offering up to six scholarships to full-time candidates who will enrol in research higher degrees in the Faculty in 2009. The Medical Foundation will also offer a scholarship to an exceptional full-time PhD candidate. The Faculty of Pharmacy is offering 2 Elizabeth Wunsch Postgraduate Research Scholarships in pharmaceutical research at the APA rate for students commencing their studies in the Faculty in 2009. The Faculty of Science will offer a limited number of scholarships to full-time postgraduate research candidates in 2009 within any school of the Faculty of Science. The eligibility criteria, value and tenure are similar to that for the APA, except that these scholarships are available only to candidates proposing to commence a full-time research degree at the Faculty.
Application for the UPA (Science) scholarships is automatic upon application for an APA/UPA through The University of Sydney Research Office. A student must commence the UPA (Science) by 31 March 2009 for a scholarship offered for Semester one. No deferment of the scholarship will be allowed.

Henderson Postgraduate Research Scholarship: a number of scholarships valued at the APA/UPA rate are available to candidates applying to undertake or currently undertaking a Master by research or PhD degree at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Conditions of the Award are in line with the APA/UPA conditions of award.
