Applications are now invited for the following scholarships to cover study, research or lecturing in the United States during the period 1 July 2010 and 30 June 2011. Applicants must be Australian citizens. United States/Australian dual citizens or Green Card holders resident abroad are ineligible. Applicants must be resident in Australia on the date applications close, available for interview in late September/early October 2009 and in Australia when the scholarships are announced in December 2009. Previous US experience will not exclude candidates but all else being equal, preference will be given to those without previous US academic or professional experience.
Fulbright Postgraduate Scholarships
The Commission will provide up to fifteen (15) scholarships in 2010 for graduate students to undertake an American higher degree or engage in research towards an Australian higher degree. Benefits include a travel entitlement of A$4,985 and a stipend of US$2,281 per month. Funding is for one academic year (8 to 12 months).
Fulbright Postdoctoral Scholarships
Benefits include travel allowance of A$4,917 and a stipend of US$1,936 per month. This scholarship supports a 3 to 12 month research program for scholars who have recently completed a PhD and would like to pursue ongoing postdoctoral research. Two to three scholarships are offered.
Fulbright Senior Scholarships
Benefits include a travel allowance of A$3,904 and a stipend of US$3,471 per month. The scholarships support a research program (maximum 6 months) for academic based professionals or scholars who intend to teach or undertake research. Up to three scholarships are offered.
Fulbright Professional Scholarships
Valued at A$26,000, these scholarships support a 3 to 4 month research program. The scholarships are for junior to mid-career professionals to undertake training or research programs in the United States. Up to five scholarships are offered.
