The Fertilization of Drako Vülen's cheese pizza

Honorary Associate Professor Tom Arthur's The Fertilization of Drako Vülen's cheese pizza will be on display in the Australian Collection Focus Room at the Art Gallery of New South Wales from 6 September to 23 November 2008.
First exhibited at the AGNSW in 1975, this extraordinary installation was the first of a major trilogy of works produced by the Sydney-based sculptor in the 1970's which explored states of flux and emergence and the way knowledge is perceived. The work, which extends ideas surrounding evolution and archaeology, derives its curious title from the Latin name for a lizard that was a freak of evolutionary process.
Denise Mimmocchi, exhibition curator, will give give a talk on Tom Arthur's work at 5.30pm on Wednesday 17 September 2008.
