Indigenous Ceramic Art Award

SCA Lecturer, Danie Mellor has been announced the First Prize (Acquisitive) winner of the 2009 Indigenous Ceramic Art Award for his work, Materially Cultured (an allegorical scene of a bastard history). Bachelor of Visual Arts Honours (Ceramics) graduate, Adam Ridgeway received Special Commendation for his work Know where you came from, see where you are, know where you are going.

Whilst accepting the award, Mellor announced that he would be donating $5000 to the local CFA in support of the Victorian Bushfires Relief. Mellor’s family lived for some time in regional Victoria’s Sutton Grange where his father volunteered for the CFA.

The award exhibition, hosted by Shepparton Art Gallery, will continue to 19 April.
