Please note that this does not necessarily include the scholarships offered by Faculties. For more details, select your Faculty from the list of Faculties.

Infectious Diseases and Immunology Summer Scholarship

For: Applicants who are enrolled full-time at the University of Sydney in an undergraduate Science or Medicine degree or equivalent degree in the physical or natural sciences, or have just completed their third year or study. Applicants must be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents, or New Zealand citizens.
Value: $1500.
Duration: 8 weeks over the summer vacation.

The Department of Infectious Diseases and Immunology in the Department of Medicine, Sydney Medical School, is offering an 8-week Summer Vacation Research Scholarship to a student who wishes to work on a research project within the unit during the 2009-10 summer vacation.

University of Sydney Honours Scholarships

Honours Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit and personal attributes such as leadership and creativity.

Applications for Honours Scholarships are open once a year only. You must apply in the year before you commence Honours, irrespective of whether you intend to commence in the first or second semester of the next academic year. To be eligible for an Honours scholarship you must have applied for and be commencing in an Honours program at the University of Sydney in 2010. The Honours program must involve an additional year to a standard Bachelor degree. Students who are awarded honours on the basis of their results in their standard Bachelor degree or who are awarded Honours on the basis of additional work undertaken as part of their Bachelor degree are not eligible to apply. If you wish to apply, please ensure you do so by the above closing date.

You must be a local student (ie. Australian or New Zealand citizen, or permanent resident of Australia). Please note that international students are not eligible to apply.

The University of Sydney Graduate Entry Scholarships

For: Students enrolling in their first year of Graduate Law, Bachelor of Dentistry, University of Sydney Medical Program (USydMP) or Teaching Degree.

Graduate Entry Program Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit and personal attributes such as leadership and creativity.

To be eligible for these scholarships, you must be a local student (ie. Australian or New Zealand citizen, or permanent resident of Australia). Please note that international students are not eligible to apply.

You must also be enrolling in a USyd graduate entry degree the following academic year (this scholarship cannot be deferred). Scholarships are awarded for study in a specified degree program/Faculty and cannot be transferred.

Value $6,000 p.a.
Duration: If you are awarded an Entry Scholarship, you will receive payment for one year only. If you are awarded a Merit Scholarship you will receive payment for up to five years depending on the length of your chosen degree.

Women in Engineering Scholarship

For: The scholarship is open to all female second year engineering students studying in Australia.
Value: $8000 per annum for two years.

The Minerals Council of Australia is partnering with Thiess for the 2010 Women in Engineering Scholarship. Successful applicants will become ambassadors for women in the mining industry and receive $8,000 per annum during their final two years of undergraduate study in engineering.

Cotton Catchment Communities Honours Scholarship

For:The project is open to all university students of a high standard who are accepted for an Honours year of an undergraduate degree or are enrolled in a separate honours program.
Value: A stipend of $3000 will be issued to the recipient.

The Cotton Catchment Communities Cooperative Research Centre (Cotton CRC) commenced operations in 1st October 2005 when it successfully secured a third round of funding under the Commonwealth CRC Program.

Key objectives of the new Cotton Catchment Communities CRC are improved economic performance of the cotton industry and sustainable use of natural resources for regional communities. Its research focus includes increasing crop yields; improving fibre quality; improving irrigation and water use efficiency; promoting productivity and innovation; providing research information on salinity, river health, and groundwater; enhancing biodiversity; enhancing industry skills; facilitating technology transfer and regional wealth. Applications for funding must be directly related to at least one of these objectives.

Trust Foundation Performing Arts Scholarships

For: Undergraduate and postgraduate students completing studies in the performing arts. A number of scholarships are available covering the areas of:

  • Instrumental Music
  • Painting
  • Prose and
  • Singing

CSIRO Honours Scholarships

Note: This scholarship is not a University of Sydney scholarship. The contact details and links will take you to an external site.

For: Full-time students in a number of Science disciplines who are intending to enroll in an Honours year. Local and International students are eligible to apply. Honours students will be jointly supervised by a university and a CSIRO supervisor where university regulations permit joint external supervision. In most cases the primary supervisor will be the university supervisor.
Value: $5000 per annum.
How to apply: Applicants must apply online through CSIRO Scholarships.

The Honours and Postgraduate Scholarship Program provides exciting opportunities in science and engineering for outstanding graduates who enrol each year at Australian tertiary institutions.
Honours students will be jointly supervised by a university and a CSIRO supervisor where university regulations permit joint external supervision. In most cases the primary supervisor will be the university supervisor.
