2010 University of Sydney Access Scholarships

For: Students with a good academic record who have been disadvantaged financially.
Value: $6,000 p.a. in 2010.
Duration: Length of degree.
Application Due: 24th September 2009.
How to Apply: Applications are made though the UAC Website from August in each scholarship round.

We know that students who overcome disadvantage can achieve excellent results at university, especially with support from the University. Access Scholarships assist academically gifted students with demonstrated disadvantage. If you are currently financially disadvantaged (for example, if you are receiving Youth Allowance or some other means-tested Commonwealth benefit) or you have financial difficutlies due to a disability or other disadvantage, or if you expect to be financially disadvantaged at university, we recommend you apply through UAC's Equity Scholarships application. You can apply at any stage of your degree, and they are available for any undergraduate degree.

There are 160 Access scholarships available in 2010.

University of Sydney National Scholarships

Value: $5000 p.a. in 2010 on top of the value of your principal scholarship.
Duration: The same duration as your principal scholarship.
How to Apply: No application is required. If you are awarded a University of Sydney Scholarship (Merit, Entry, Outstanding Achievement or Access) and you completed your HSC/IB in a state or territory of Australia other than NSW or the ACT, we will automatically top up your scholarship with an extra $5,000 per year for the same duration as your primary scholarship.

These scholarships are designed to support students who are applying to the University of Sydney through UAC from outside NSW and ACT to help cover the extra living costs involved in moving to a different state to attend uni.
