Alec Brennan is a Fellow of Senate of the University of Sydney appointed by the Minister for Education and Training to hold office for four years from 1 January 2006 to 31 December 2009.

Mr Brennan is currently Chair of Senate's Finance and Infrastructure Committee and Remuneration and Benefits Committee. He was a member of the Selection Committee for a new Vice-Chancellor to replace Professor Gavin Brown on his retirement.

Mr Brennan retired from the position of CEO and Managing Director of CSR Limited in 2007. Prior to his appointment in 2003, Alec was Deputy CEO and head of strategy at CSR where he was responsible for developing and then implementing its restructure which led in 2003 to the demerger of Rinker Group as a separate company.

Alec joined CSR as a Research Scientist in 1969. During his long career he has held general management roles in CSR businesses involved in sugar refining, aluminium, building products and construction materials. More recently he has had general management roles in both finance and strategy.

He has been a director of CSR since 1996.

Alec is a director of the Garvan Research Foundation and of Emeco Limited.
