Originally planned in 1890 and later part of Professor Leslie Wilkinson’s plan, the bridge was begun in 1956 and completed in 1958. It has two distinctly different facades designed to complement the adjacent buildings, providing a transition between the sandstone Gothic Revival buildings of the main precinct (this view) and the Mediterranean character that Wilkinson intended for Science Road (see below).
