About the Intranet project
Internal Communications are undertaking an exciting new project to develop a more effective staff website. The website, or Intranet, will offer improved access to information, opportunities for collaboration and better workplace tools and systems.
The Intranet project is an Internal Communications initiative. As communication with staff is our priority, the focus of the first phase of the project is to meet with as many staff across the University as possible to find out what they want included in an Intranet.
We are in the process of meeting with over 57 executive groups from across the University to discuss the project and understand their requirements. We are also running over 30 Intranet scoping workshops to find out what content and functionality staff would like to see included in the new site.
Some of the things that have been raised in the workshops and meetings so far include:
- Finding information or people more quickly
- Easier and more intuitive navigation
- Need a reliable and single-source of information
- Useful tools, such as calendars
- Ability to personalise/customise the interface
- Collaborative workspaces
Thanks to the support the project has received, we will complete the first research phase of the project in December 2008. The Intranet is scheduled to be released progressively throughout 2009, with ongoing improvements to functionality and content.
