Goverment terms
Australian Government is the preferred term, followed closely by Federal Government. The term Commonwealth Government is no longer widely used.
Capitalise when referring to the particular (and official titles); use lower case for generic and plural references. The same rule applies to all levels of government.
The adjective federal only needs a capital if it is part of an official title (such as the Federal Court of Australia).
| Particular examples | Generic/plural examples |
