Learning Centre
The Learning Centre provides an educational service to students, to staff and to the university as an institution. The mission of the Learning Centre is to improve the quality of learning in students of the University of Sydney. The primary role of the Centre in pursuing this mission is to develop in students those skills necessary for the acquisition and communication of knowledge and ideas in a university setting.
The dual concerns of the Centre's work are:
- to equip individual students with skills and attributes which will enable them to learn and communicate effectively at university and beyond;
- and to facilitate enhancement of the learning environments within which these enabling skills and attributes are to be fostered.
In fulfilling its mission, the Learning Centre draws upon and contributes to the advancement of research and development in the field, particularly in the areas of student learning and the development of academic literacy and oracy in higher education.
