Before you apply for admission
If you have a disability you may be eligible to access services offered by the University of Sydney, through Disability Services. To access this assistance you must first register with Disability Services, preferably before you commence study.
We recommend you contact a Disability Services Officer prior to your application for admission to ensure you are fully aware of the registration process requirements and the assistance available at the University of Sydney.
Applying for admission
Please refer to the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) for information about applying to undergraduate courses at the University of Sydney.
The UAC form contains a question about disability. We encourage you to complete this question. UAC will send you a follow-up questionnaire about your anticipated support needs at university. Your replies to this questionnaire are forwarded to Disability Services of the universities which offer you a place. Your responses are confidential and are not sent to the Admissions Office. By completing this question you enable Disability Services to contact you and begin to organise any services you may need before you enrol.
Educational Access Schemes
The UAC Educational Access Schemes (EAS) booklet contains details of all the Education Access Schemes available in NSW. At the University of Sydney the EAS is called the Broadway Scheme. If you are applying for the Broadway Scheme you will need to complete the EAS application (in addition to your UAC application) and make sure you submit it by the due date.

Enrolment
Re-enrolling students:
Only re-enrolling students who do not successfully complete pre-enrolment will be required to attend in person to have their courses approved.
Commencing students:
Enrolment for most new students takes place on the Camperdown Campus. If you are enrolling in Health Sciences, Law, College of the Arts, Nursing or the Faculty of Rural Management, Orange, enrolment is at the faculty as detailed below:
- Faculty of Health Sciences - Cumberland Campus
- Sydney College of the Arts - Rozelle
- Law - Law School in Phillip Street, Sydney
- Faculty of Nursing - Mallett Street
- Faculty of Rural Management Orange
You will be advised of the exact location of enrolment with your UAC offer. Please contact Disability Services if you require an accessible venue for enrolment. If you need assistance please contact Disability Services as soon as you have received your offer so we can make arrangements to assist you on your enrolment day.
Students who have a mobility or vision impairment often find that enrolment procedures will be easier if a friend or family member accompanies them. We recommend that you plan to have at least the full day on campus to complete your enrolment.
Variations of enrolment
Enrolment variations must be made at your Faculty (not Department) Office. There are time limitations about when you can withdraw from subjects to have no record of enrolment, a W (Withdrawn) or a DNF (Discontinue Not To Count as Fail) on your academic record. You should familiarise yourself with your Faculty's individual requirements in order not to jeopardise your academic results. Faculty handbooks are available on the web or from your Faculty office.
Some students in exceptional circumstances can be granted permission to discontinue a subject after the HECS cut-off date check with your Faculty Office or the Counselling Service, Health Service or Disability Services for the procedures you need to follow. If you are withdrawing after the HECS cut-off date due to increasing disability, you may be eligible to claim Remission from these HECS fees from DEST. You can pick up a form from Disability Services or from the link Remission on HECS
Proxy Enrolment
Proxy enrolment is available if, for any reason, you are unable to attend the University on enrolment day. Details on Proxy Enrolment are available from the website Student Centre Proxy Enrolment.
