I already have a loan from the Financial Assistance Office and I am struggling to make my repayments. What can I do?
Apply for an extension! If you are struggling to make your repayments the Financial Assistance Office can extend the terms of your loan. A couple of important points about extensions:
You must be up to date with your repayments.
Please contact the Financial Assistance Office prior to the due date of your instalment or lump sum payment.
Please come to us with a plan yourself and we can work out a new repayment plan with you. Click here to download an application for and extension.
What if I am overdue or behind in my loan repayments?
If you are a behind or overdue the Financial Assistance Office cannot extend the terms of your loan. You will need to contact the Loans Collections Officer on 9351 3740.
It can sometimes be hard to call somewhere when you are behind in paying back the money you owe. So it is a good idea to take a few deep breaths and prepare. Sit down and work out how much you can realistically afford to pay and how often you can pay. It might be more realistic to pay small regular amounts rather that commit to a large one-off payment.
