About SUN

The Sydney University Network for Women (SUN) aims to support the leadership, development and advancement of women within the University. The University is committed to providing equal opportunity for women in employment and to promoting affirmative action programs designed to address past inequalities.
SUN has a unique ability to represent the interests of University women, and can offer valuable input to the development and implementation of various policies or activities to achieve this commitment. SUN was established in 1998 and now has over 400 members. The Staff and Student Equal Opportunity Unit has played an instrumental role in the establishment and ongoing support of SUN.
- To promote and enhance the role of women within the University.
- To support and promote leadership, development and advancement of University women.
- To improve access to networking and skill sharing opportunities and to promote the establishment of a mentoring program so as to significantly contribute to the career development of University women.
- To ensure input by University women into the formulation and application of University policy.
- To promote University women's skills and confidence and provide support and assistance with professional development (e.g. promotion, career opportunities and research).
