Her research covers the areas of feminist international and transnational relations (women and human rights, women, militarism and globalisation, crosscultural studies), women, culture and religion (notably although not exclusively with relation to the Muslim world and Muslim diaspora), women and the State/politics, lesbian and gay studies and feminist theory. Bronwyn is also active in the women's, gay and trade union movements and is frequently invited to speak at public and community sector events, e.g. plenary address on Violence Against Women at the 'Beijing plus Ten' NGO preparatory conference at UNSW, June 2004.

Her teaching covers French and Francophone literatures, theatre, history, societies and cultures from the 17th to 20th centuries. She is a member of the team that developed and currently teaches the Faculty of Arts' interdisciplinary undergraduate major in Comparative Literature, and is involved in developing Units of Study for the European Studies major as well as for the new BA in Global Studies.
