A Tradition of Philanthropy The Challis Bequest Society recognises the special and important place of those alumni and friends who have chosen to provide support for the University of Sydney and its faculties and foundations, by naming us as beneficiaries in their will. Starting with John Henry Challis, whose bequest was the first major bequest received by the University, supporters who leave bequests help us to expand into new areas of study, build new infrastructure and create scholarships for students. The University deeply appreciates the commitment of our alumni and friends. In whatever form they take, bequests to the University of Sydney continue to make an important impact on learning and discovery that reaches far into the future. If you would like further information on the Challis Bequest Society, we encourage you to download our brochure. There are two levels of membership within the society: Legacy and Lifetime
