The Sydney Student governance, management, and delivery involves a large and broad cross-section of functions and individuals.

Program sponsorship
Sydney Student is a joint initiative of the Education Portfolio and ICT. This dual-ownership emphasises the important role that both people and technology play in achieving excellence in student administration outcomes.
Following the July 2008 senior management re-structure, Sydney Student has been brought under the ownership of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education), Professor Derrick Armstrong, who chairs the Sydney Student steering committee. Bruce Meikle, Chief Information Officer, is the co-sponsor on behalf of ICT. The program is operating under the day-to-day direction of Sandra Sirasch, Program Director on behalf of the sponsors.

Sydney Student Program Board
The Program Board is the single point of governance and acts as an informed decision making authority to the Sydney Student Administration Program, comprised of senoir academic, and professional executives.
The Vice-Chancellor's Senior Executive Group (SEG) will provide input and direction to the Sydney Student steering committee on major policy and strategy decisions. Sydney Student is also a standing agenda item at the quarterly meetings of the Senate Finance and Infrastructure Committee (F&IC).

Stakeholder Reference Groups
Sydney Student will establish Administrative, Academic, Student and Frontline Staff Reference Groups as consultative bodies to the program team, which will help ensure an informed approach with the right level of input and accountability for different stakeholder groups.
- Administrative; Faculty Manager, Business Manager or equivalent from all faculties and PSU’s, are requested to nominate a suitable senior member of the faculty administration staff act as liaison to the program
- Academic; The DVC (Education), will work with the Provost’s Group and Academic Board to identify a cross-section of academic advisors to the program
- Student; SRC and SUPRA will be engaged to provide a representative sample of students to provide regular consultation and advice.
- Frontline; A cross-section of faculty and Student Centre staff who work directly with students on a day-to-day basis and who will be consulted and provide input into the program.
