Closure of Sydney Bioinformatics

Sydney Bioinformatics was established as a Centre of the University of Sydney on January 2, 2007 for a period of three years.

A review of Sydney Bioinformatics, undertaken in 2009, found Sydney Bioinformatics had successfully achieved or exceeded all but one of its performance milestones. The review also identified several emerging trends in bioinformatics and an evolving nature in how researchers access bioinformatics capability. After consideration of the review, the University of Sydney has decided to close Sydney Bioinformatics for strategic reasons.

When did Sydney Bioinformatics close?

Sydney Bioinformatics closed on December 31, 2009, at the end of its original three year term.

Who can I contact about bioinformatics?

Dr Nicola Armstrong, formerly Statistical Bioinformatics Specialist at Sydney Bioinformatics, will remain available to collaborate on statistical bioinformatics projects (e.g. microarray analysis) until further notice. She can be contacted on:

Academic staff previously associated with Sydney Bioinformatics can also be contacted through their respective School or Faculty:

Finally, the bioinformatics-announce mailing list remains available. Many staff and students of the University of Sydney, and affiliated research institutes and teaching hospitials, who have an interest in bioinformatics, are subscribed to this list. You may wish to subscribe to the list and post a query to the community.
