Prior to joining the University of Sydney in 2004, Taksil worked in a similar business development and commercialisation role at the University of Western Sydney where he was actively engaged in building links with industry and coordinating projects both at the national and international level.

His industry background covers more than a decade of business and new product development in the commercial arena both in Australia and overseas, with stints in Sterling Winthrop and Smith Kline Beecham (Pharmaceuticals), Emirates and Malaysia Airlines (Global Aviation), and ASX listed company Powerlan Systems Integration (ASX: PWR) (Information and Communication Technology) where he had responsibility for Asia Pacific operations representing third party products and enterprise business solutions.

Other active roles included representation on several industry/professional associations such as Knowledge Commercialisation Australasia (KCA), Greater Western Sydney Economic Development Board (GWSEDB), Western Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils (WESROC), Australian Industries Group (AIG), Department of State & Regional Development NSW (DSRD) and Sydney West Marketing.

He is also a part time Lecturer in the School of Marketing & International Business at the University of Western Sydney, and the Discipline of Marketing with the Faculty of Economics at the University of Sydney.
