Sydnovate is here to assist you with contractual arrangements with industry, government and other universities relating to professional services including research, technology transfer, the transfer of proprietary materials and university confidential information.

Sydnovate has been organised into five units:
- Technology Transfer Unit (TTU) – is responsible for appraising, marketing and licensing the University’s intellectual property portfolio.
- Professional Services Unit (PSU) – is responsible for marketing and facilitating agreements for the provision of professional services to Industry and Government. For help with Research, Testing and Consulting Agreements please fill in this Professional Services Enquiry Form.
- Intellectual Property Unit (IPU)– managing the University’s intellectual property portfolio.
- Legal Services Unit (LSU) – providing in-house legal services to support Sydnovate’s business, particularly in the areas of intellectual property and commercial law. LSU has primary responsibility for drafting, negotiating and reviewing agreements on behalf of Sydnovate.
- Administration & Operations Unit (AOU) – providing financial and administrative services to support the activities of Sydnovate.
Where do I take my contract?
The Research Office will assist you with:- Research funding tender research or grant applications and research agreements with non-commercial entities (including ARC Linkage applications)
- Stand alone scholarship applications and scholarship agreements (namely scholarships which are unrelated to a research agreement).
- CRC project applications and agreements
- Research agreements with commercial entities
- ARC Linkage Industry partners agreements (for successful applications)
- Scholarship agreements which are linked to a research agreement with a commercial entity
- Consultancy and Testing agreements with commercial and non-commercial entities.
- Tenders for research and/or consultancy for commercial entities
- Licence or Option agreements regarding University IP.
- Incoming and outgoing Material transfer agreements (MTA)
- Outgoing confidentiality agreements protecting the University’s IP
- Visitor’s agreements
Non-commercial entities include all Government departments, including the ARC, NHMRC and not-for-profit organisations, including CRCs, other universities, charities and public research funding bodies such as Rural Research and Development Corporations (RDCs) and research Corporations and research foundations.
Commercial entities include for-profit and not-for-profit companies, institutions and partnerships with commercial interests.
