Call for applications

Since its establishment in 1978, the Sir Zelman Cowen Universities Fund has raised funds for medical and scientific research focused on finding therapies for still-incurable diseases. The work supported by the Fund is carried out at the University of Sydney and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Since the launch of its Alzheimer's Disease & Inflammation initiative in 1996, the Fund has supported research aimed at finding the cause and a potential cure, for the dementia of Alzheimer's disease (AD). The Trustees of the Fund are pleased to announce the establishment of the Sir Zelman Cowen Universities Fund Alzheimer's Disease Research Grant (SZCUF AD Grant).

Applications are now sought for the SZCUF AD Grant. Applications should be made according to the guidelines set out below and sent to the Fund's Office at the University of Sydney, F13, NSW 2006 by Friday 30 May 2008.

Guidelines

 
  1. The Grant will comprise an award of $100,000 over 2 years (which could be used by the successful applicant over 3 years if that was more useful) for a research project in the field of Alzheimer’s disease, where the aim of the project is to develop and/or assess new treatments for this condition
  2. Applicants must be permanent members of staff of the University of Sydney or of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Joint applications for cooperative projects between permanent members of staff of both Universities will also be welcomed.
