The Department of Philosophy in the School of Philosophy and Historical Inquiry seeks to appoint a Lecturer in the area of political philosophy, for a fixed term of four years. The person appointed will be expected to contribute to teaching and research in contemporary political philosophy, especially in the Anglo-American tradition (broadly conceived), though not restricted to that. Expertise in the history of political thought or in the history of philosophy is highly desirable. Applicants should demonstrate a strong record of research achievement relative to opportunity and a willingness to seek external funding. The appointee will be expected to contribute to the team-taught first year program, teach senior undergraduate and graduate units in political philosophy, as well as offer Honours and graduate supervision. Applicants must have completed a PhD in the relevant areas.

The position is full-time fixed term up to 31 December 2010, subject to completion of a satisfactory probation period for new appointees. Membership of a University approved superannuation scheme is a condition of employment for new appointees.

Remuneration package: $81,729 - $97,053.09 p.a. (which includes a base salary Lecturer Level B $69,062 - $82,011 p.a., leave loading and up to 17% employer's contribution to superannuation)
