2006 Overseas Graduation Ceremonies, Alumni Reunion Receptions and University Dinners

Beijing 2005

The University held a series of events in Beijing in September 2005. Over 40 senior academics participated in the events and visited their counterparts in leading University in China.

On September 2 a Presentation Ceremony for over 400 graduates and their guests was held in the Great Hall of the People. This is the first time that any University has been accorded the honour of holding such a ceremony in this historic place. The University is grateful to the Chinese Government and to the Government of Beijing.

On the evening of 2 September, over 600 alumni celebrated the success of our Chinese graduates at a reception at the Beijing Hotel.

On 3 September the University hosted a Banquet for 90 key dignitaries and senior University staff.

The major events concluded on Monday 5 September with a Health Education forum at Peking University jointly hosted by the College of Health Sciences and the George Institute.

The Beijing 2005 events are a part of the University’s long term engagement with China in higher education and research. They are a statement of our sustained commitment to our Chinese colleagues.
