About the University of Sydney
International Triennium 2006 - 2009
The University has declared 2006-2009 the University of Sydney International Triennium, to coincide with Vice-Chancellor Gavin Brown's Presidency of the Association of Pacific Rim Universities 2006-8.
The triennium is a set of broad-based initiatives aimed at achieving a major advance in the university's internationalisation and international engagements as a top ranked world university.
The approach taken for the 2006-2009 Triennium is aligned with the key priorities and achievement areas set out in the international strategy of the University, which are :
- engagement and leadership at an international level
- fostering an international culture of innovation and research
- enhancing international learning and teaching
- creating international networks and communities
- successful partnership with international business and industry
- active development of international resources
- focus on clear international communication programs.
These initiatives formed a part of the continuing program of the University.
Several significant international events have been held in the following cities:
2005 - Beijing
2006 - Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Shanghai and Hong Kong
2007 - Berlin, London, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Beijing and Guangzhou
In 2008 events will be held in Los Angeles, New York, Indonesia, Latin America, Japan, South Korea, London Singapore, Philadelphia, Shanghai and Hong Kong.
