Building the site shell

Once your information architecture has been designed and approved, you are now ready to build what we call a site "shell". This is an empty website, with the structure set-up but without any content added yet.

In order to complete the shell, a nominee from your area must attend webmaster training. In the webmaster training session the facilitator will usually get you to work on your own site.

Building a shell will often involve creating many links between navigation items (tabs and menus) and pages. It helps to use the IA spreadsheet template we provide to track your work and ensure that the links are correct.
