"Frontiers of Knowledge” Symposium 2007
The following “Frontiers of Knowledge” Symposia have been successfully held in 2007.
Berlin – 9 July 2007
Speakers at this symposium were:-

Associate Professor Belinda Bennett, Director, Centre for Health Governance, Law and Ethics, Faculty of Law on "Crafting Laws for the Frontiers of Science".
This Symposium was held at the Australian Embassy, Berlin, and was attended by over 80 guests from local universities, government departments and agencies. Many University of Sydney Alumni also attended.
London - 11 July 2007

This Symposium was held at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, and was attended by over 80 guests from local universities, hospitals, government departments and agencies. Many University of Sydney Alumni also attended.
Guangzhou - 13 November 2007
The symposium addressed the issue of internationalisation and modernisation of Chinese herbal medicines. Topics covered included quality control and quality assurance, therapeutic efficacy and clinical trials. Presenters from the University of Sydney were Professor Basil Roufogalis (Pharmacy), Dr George Li (Pharmacy) and Professor Stephen Clarke (Medicine). They were joined by colleagues from Sun Yat-sen University and also by Professor Paul Pui Hay But from the Institute of Chinese Medicine, the Chinese University of Hong Kong. The symposium was attended by over 100 guests from local universities, hospitals, government departments and agencies.
As a result of a ten year partnership between Sun Yat-sen University and the University of Sydney, The Australia-China Centre for Research in Chinese Medicines (ACCRCM) was established building on both universities’ strengths and their rich history of high standards of research and innovation in herbal medicines. This agreement was signed on 13 November 2007.
The Hon Morris Iemma MP, Premier of New South Wales, Australia, during his visit to Guangzhou, witnessed the establishment of ACCRCM at a ribbon cutting ceremony on 19 November 2007. At this ceremony Mr Iemma made a significant announcement of support, with the NSW government providing funding to allow the establishment of a Joint Chair in Herbal Medicines.
